Our Story

Our story started in 1880

145 years later, Connolly Brothers, Inc. has grown into one of the most prominent, well-respected commercial Construction Management companies in Massachusetts.

Now in our fifth generation of family leadership, Connolly has become an award-winning construction management firm specializing in new construction and renovation projects for the education, institutional, nonprofit, and corporate/industrial markets.

Major Milestones from 1880 to Today

1880

Connolly Brothers is founded by brothers Steve & Greg Connolly in Massachusetts.

1920s

Greg Connolly formally incorporated the company on January 5, 1928, after returning from World War I.

1950s

During the 1950s and 60s Connolly Brothers completes numerous public construction projects in the region, including police and fire stations, public schools, and post offices.

1980s

Majority ownership passes to Stephen J. Connolly IV. Under his leadership the company evolves from a general contractor into a construction manager, shifting from residential projects to private commercial, industrial, & institutional clients.

1990s

Connolly Brothers shifts focus to design-build, adding an in-house design team. The firm manages dozens of automotive dealerships and builds headquarters and facilities for manufacturing, retail, and tech clients.

2019

Stephen J. Connolly IV transfers majority ownership of the company to his son Jay Connolly and son-in-law, Thaddeus Minshall.

With depth of experience our operations team provides a rigorous program with 3 goals in mind: budget, schedule and safety. We work with trusted subcontractors and suppliers who are able to aide us in identifying conflicts between trades and resolve issues before they negatively impact the schedule and/or budget.

Project Controls

Having the "right" tools in place that give owners as much control over the project as desired. From BIM to VDC and other technologies, coupled with our decades of experience, enables Connolly to develop more accurate budgets, manage more effectively, and add value at every stage.
