Brooks School
North Andover, MA
Established in 1926, Brooks School is a private, coeducational boarding and day school providing a college preparatory program for students in grades 9-12 on a campus overlooking Lake Cochichewick. Brooks turned to Connolly for a series of campus renovations. In a design-build role, Connolly transformed the Campus Athletic Center's McVeigh Court with a new varsity-length court, which involved wood floor refinishing, the installation of abuse-resistant finishes, and the relocation of a glass entryway.
Additionally, Connolly provided construction management services for Brooks' Wilder Dining Hall and Student Center. In collaboration with Architectural Resources Cambridge, Connolly added a vestibule to the space along with a new dining patio and fresh landscaping to enhance the exterior of the campus. Connolly also renovated the school's Keating Room, with project work including an expansion of the space and the implementation of modern technological and A/V systems in the high-end multifunction meeting and gathering area.
Further, Connolly delivered a facelift and upgrades to smaller campus buildings supporting summer operations. A.T. Leonard provided design services for exterior site work on the sugar shack, as well as landscape architecture. Connolly was selected in large part due to its value-engineering preconstruction process, and with the independent school occupied year-round, Connolly was, as usual, diligent in approaching site safety and predictable scheduling.
