Covenant Christian Academy
Peabody, MA
Performing Arts & Athletics Center Addition
Covenant Christian Academy (CCA), is a private, Christian school for students in grades K through 12. Recognizing a need to update its facilities, CCA selected Connolly to design and build an 11,000 SF addition. The addition would meet the growing needs of the school's population by delivering a multifunction facility complete with a dual gymnasium/performing arts center, bleacher seating and general assembly space.
The project scope included a new full-length, indoor basketball court, dual performing arts area, including bleacher seating and wall paddings for safety. A new courtyard was added to the exterior of the building to accommodate study space, tours, small events and other gatherings of the CCA community. It was important for the addition to seamlessly integrate with the existing structure so as to preserve the overall design integrity. The team was able to accomplish this by constructing an adjoining hallway to connect the addition to the preexisting school building. Site improvements at the entrance included construction of a new main entrance.
Renovation to Accommodate New Logic and Fine Arts Wings
Connolly was asked back in 2023 to renovate 10,000 SF of existing space for use as the school's new Logic and Fine Arts wings. The project was completed in only 85 days (post demolition). The project scope included new interior finishes, MEPs, bathrooms, casework, and restoration/replacement of existing windows and entryways to integrate and transition the wings with the existing space. Connolly served as the architect of record for both of these projects.
