When Jumbo Capital Management was ready to build its CubeSmart self-storage facility in Everett, Mass., it called on Connolly Brothers to manage the construction of building. From the ground up, the Connolly team erected framed steel beams, a composite deck atop concrete slabs, an insulated metal panel exterior sheathing system, a glass curtainwall system, an insulated roof membrane system, and decorative masonry on exterior walls. The building houses more than 1,200 temperature-controlled self-storage units, an access control system, two freight elevators, and dedicated sales/administration offices, and is adjoined by customer parking areas. Connolly worked in collaboration with Surus Development & Construction on the project, which included the removal and replacement of more than 35,000 cubic yards of structurally unsuitable soil.
